WTF did you bring up about Danny Williams then?? You are the one that said I had a selective memory and why did I know about Gratzer and not Danny Williams and I was responding to YOUR post–talk about *ignoring* the subject. wow.

Danny Williams is one of his hicktown inbred uncles, probably works for God Like Productions, or fox news.
LOL

I know this is meant for theclinger but I have to respond to this because I see BS in the last part of your statement here particularly.

I know a medical assistant at a clinic in Bellingham, WA that told me there are NO Canadians in that clinic ( 30k people there ) unless they are there on vacation & they get really sick/injured ( at which they purchase optional insurance for “just in case” when they’re out of country ) and stays busy from SEATTLE residents cuz of cost in Seattle 2 hrs south

@portlanddem
you were responding to my post?
You were trying to argue that Palin treating in Canada as a child was the same thing as Mr Williams flying to Miami for surgery, and I proved you wrong.
I never mentioned anything about having a specialist flown in from japan for a surgery. Nor did I worry about who would pay for it. That was all you.

portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:44 am

lol well according to 78topper, he was a high-ranking Canadian official that came to the US for a heart procedure.

He brought up Williams after I told him the BS with Gratzer being an “expert” on Canada’s health care system, and at least in Canada if you have to leave for a procedure, they *DO* pick up most of the tab for the procedure–this includes travel expenses.

this is exactly what i said to grexample
QUOTE.

Game of chess, grexample.

Some people win, some people lose..

! win, grexample… I win, you lose. LOL

portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:49 am

No, did you read my entire reply back to you??? I don’t think you did ( after you said about Palin was a child in Canada being treated ) & agreed w/ you but said why is it that when it comes to leaving the country for a procedure, at least Mr. Williams would have had his ( or any other Canadian ) large portion of the tab–including traveling, for the procedure, PAID FOR. Whereas the US, would never do that for even a US-born citizen and I asked you, why do you think that is? ( still waiting…)

mygif
78topper said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:49 am

@portlanddem
wow, you sure know a lot of people.
Everytime a point is brough up you come up with a friend who just happens to be in a position to support whatever it is you say.
Pretty lucky.
But it does not change facts, as it is widely known that Canadians cross the border for treatment. The govt even reimburses for it, if the waiting list is too long in Canada.

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:50 am

LOL

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:55 am

Most that I know that I bring up about being around the country–are very close to the Canadian border–most in WA, because I’m not far from the border myself. I guess in that essence, I am lucky.

Yes, the Canadian gov’t reimburses for it–not usually the entire bill, but over 50%, but it isn’t because of a waiting lists. It is because of shortage of physicians in rural areas of the country.

For some in rural areas, it would be closer to get a doctor in the US than another Canadian city.

mygif
78topper said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:57 am

@portlanddem
Sorry, but I dont know of people who are trying to leave the USA to get treatment.
In fact, I think pretty much everyone else who can afford it comes here. not vice versa.
To answer your question, if someone elects to have surgery outside of the states then they ought to pay for it themselves.

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 2:58 am

So, I have to ask you, why would Danny Williams fly clear to Miami when there would have been at least a dozen other cities so much closer, if not more for the same procedure? Doesn’t make sense…..

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:03 am

What about eye correction surgeries? Look what the cost is in a place like Vancouver ( one of most expensive places in all of Canada ) vs. what it cost in the US for same procedure.

Rebuttal to your question–elective surgery, yes, but we’re talking about it being a life or death issue–they had to go outside the states in order to live or have a physician flown in to perform the procedure how would you feel about that, and they didn’t have the $ to pay for it themselves?

mygif
August81186 said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:04 am

BS in the last PART ?
the whole damn statement is BS.

mygif
78topper said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:04 am

@portlanddem
no it doesnt make sense. Unless he was interested in getting the best care available, and in order to get that care he had to leave the socialized canadian healthcare system.

mygif
August81186 said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:05 am

fact : canadians really appreciate their healthcare.

mygif
August81186 said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:09 am

2012 is going to be the funeral fire of the once prominant republican party. ;)

mygif
78topper said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:09 am

@portlanddem
I never made that distinction. The medical care here is better for any non experimental surgery, elective or not, than it is anywhere else in the world.
Look, You seem like a nice guy, and I know you really believe what you are saying. We will never convince each other to change. Lets agree to disagree.

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:13 am

No, I think the whole thing is BS whoever put that story out, unless he managed to get a doc in Canada to arrange him, by his choice, to go to Miami and take a vacation with it or something….somethings wrong with that story. If it were a city like Seattle, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, etc it’d be more understandable, but sounds like more to that story missing somewhere…

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:15 am

I can go along with that.

No, I am never trying to convince anyone, just giving my opinion on what I learned through my own experience, or those I know that deal with the health care system more than I have.

I agree the US does have the best health care system in the world–it does, but sadly, it isn’t the best for those that can’t make enough $ to afford it.

mygif
78topper said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:26 am

@portlanddem
we might agree on more than we realized.
There is a lot that needs fixing, and no matter how good it is, our system falls short of what it could be.
I just hope we can fix it, and increase access to it without breaking it and or ruining the quality that is there.
maybe in the end we will both be happy with the result.
Nice arguing with you :)

mygif
portlanddem said in March 30th, 2010 at 3:44 am

LOL yeah nice arguing with you too. :-)

I agree, I don’t want the quality to become dire and am sure there are things we do agree on–at least you were a lot more civil about it than “grexample” was…

Had an argument w/ a guy sent me a message few weeks ago about abortion. I told him I think both sides agree on some things the other side just ignores, and turns out, there were things we did agree on in the end–it just took like 40 messages back and forth to figure it out lol

Am I surprised a stupid republitard with nothing but moronic talking points wouldn’t understand my point? The nuclear family works just fine with the stronger caring and providing for the weaker members of the family. Your opposition to health care reform is just proof that you don’t care about other people. That’s why you don’t deserve health care. I hope Obama denies you care now that he owns you, so we can go on without greedy people.

78topper, do some research on Mitral valve repair surgery in Canada, that WIlliams had. The Peter Munk heart institute in Toronto was one of the leading centers in the world that pioneered the procedure & has had many American patients come to get it done there, not to mention American doctors going there to learn the technique. Williams procedure was far from routine. He had the luxury of going to Miami, in the middle of winter to have it done and recover the 12 weeks in his Florida condo.

Despite the self-righteous rhetoric of Leftists, the fact that capitalist institutions focus solely on earning money is not a moral weakness at all. All kinds of social discord is prevented when people’s disparate, conflicting personal moral and intellectual preferences/biases are set aside and what one receives from others is directly linked to what he produces for others. Leftists inject discord into society by trying to impose their personal biases on everyone else by government fiat.
